"Energy is consumed by HVAC systems through a number of processes. Air is typically distributed through the ductwork via an electrically‐powered fan. Cooling coils remove heat from the air. Heating coils add heat to the air. Through normal HVAC usage, particulates in the air slowlycollects on the surfaces of various HVAC components, resulting in a gradual loss of energy efficiency. Some loss of efficiency via a single dirty component may be minor. When the loss through each component is added up, however, the impact could be considerable. Generally, the greater the buildup, the greater the energy loss. Removal of the buildup of particulate on HVAC components restores energy performance to the system." 
My heat pump unit was not working, though the handler and thermostat were fine. I did a little testing myself and determined that the low pressure switch was triggered, then called Waychoff's without having told them anything about what I did (sort of a test to see if they'd try to sell me something I didn't need). Eric showed up 30 minutes early to the appointment (a pleasant surprise), and immediately got to work. Within 10 minutes he told me I had no coolant which triggered the low pressure sensor which meant there was a leak. He inspected the handler inside and then told me he needed to do a nitrogen pressure test to find the leak. 10 minutes after that he showed me the hissing leak in the heat pump, proving that there was in fact a leak. He brazed/welded it shut, re-tested to confirm, then filled the unit with coolant. 60 minutes later I'm back in business and my heat pump is working great. I liked that Eric was 100% honest about the issue and how to fix, and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. He also worked with me on the coolant charges, since they tend to mark it up quite a bit. Overall a good experience - I'd use them again for sure. They're a little bit pricey, but for the quality, honesty, and knowledge it's worth paying.
Obstructed dryer vents are the source of thousands of house fires every year. As your dryer vent becomes clogged, drying time gradually increases. A round, flexible exhaust tube at the back of your dryer connects to the wall and sends hot, moist air outdoors. As your heated clothes tumble in the hot air, lint (tiny bits of the cotton or other fibers that make up your clothing) come off the fabric. Most of these fibers end up in the lint trap as the exhaust air passes through it. You can usually access the lint trap inside the dryer door or on top of the dryer.
Clean air ducts are an important component to having a clean home, and therefore it can be a great idea to clean your vent system.  For maintenance purposes, we recommend that your air duct and vent system be cleaned every 3-5 years, depending on a variety of factors including your personal preference, number of pets in the household, cleanliness of the household, and other activities that affect indoor air quality, such as smoking inside.  Air duct cleaning is also a good idea at the completion of a remodeling project, when moving into a new home, or if you experience increased allergies.
